Jets fans have spent the summer wondering whether Connor Hellebuyck would stay in Winnipeg or move on.

Now we finally have an answer.

The three-time Vezina Trophy winner has confirmed that he wants to be traded, revealing he actually made the request privately several months ago.

With training camp opening September 16, he decided it was time to make that decision public.

The team has known about the request for months and has been exploring its options through the offseason. GM Kevin Cheveldayoff says there’s no trade to announce yet, but they’re continuing to work through the situation.

After 11 seasons of watching No. 37 make some incredible saves for this team, it’s tough news for Jets fans after everything he’s meant to Winnipeg.

But with the season getting closer, all we can do now is wait and see where he goes and what comes next for the team.

Summer's basically over, and we all know what comes next. The patios close, the calendar empties, and suddenly you're home by seven every night.

There's another version of that.

Eleven Hundred Dance runs adult classes on Pembina, built for people who've never done this before.

One evening a week, and suddenly you've got somewhere to be and people to see when you get there.

The season's about to change either way. Might as well come out of it able to dance.

Le Burger Week starts tomorrow, September 1st, and this year is a big one. The competition is celebrating its 15th anniversary, with more than 175 restaurants around Manitoba putting their own burger creations on the menu until September 7th.

And that's before we get to the guy defending his title…

Carlo's Cucina in Gimli took the top Manitoba spot last year with their Taste of the Interlake burger. This time, owner Carlo Guzzi is hoping The Mia Famiglia earns him his fourth national title in six years.

The best part is you get a say in who wins. Try whichever burgers catch your eye, then head online and vote for your favourite.

We've barely scratched the surface here. There are a lot more local restaurants in this one, with some pretty wild creations waiting to be found.

Ask a kid to go outside and play, and you'll usually get a look. Between school, homework, and screens, most of their day is already spent sitting.

Manitoba wants to help change that.

The province is testing a new health and phys-ed curriculum that would have every student from kindergarten to Grade 12 taking part in physical activity at school. It’s also the first major update to the curriculum in 25 years.

The two-year pilot will run in participating schools across rural and northern Manitoba, including Winnipeg and Brandon, with parents and teachers able to share feedback throughout the pilot.

There's quite a bit more changing here. So if you have kids in school, or know a family who does, it's worth seeing what students could soon be learning.

If Winnipeg Transit is part of your daily routine, you might want to check your route before heading out this weekend.

The fall schedule starts Sunday, September 6th. It brings route changes, new stops, and schedule improvements, with several of the updates coming directly from feedback riders have shared throughout the year.

There are a few other changes too, including updates to evening and weekend service.

So if you take the bus regularly, a quick check now could save some confusion when the new schedule kicks in.

It's almost that time again. In a few days the kids head back to class, and mornings around here get a whole lot busier.

But there's one back-to-school change that's easy to forget after a whole summer away.

Starting tomorrow, September 1st, school zone speed limits are back in Winnipeg.

That means 30 km/h in designated school zones, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Speeding in one of those zones can mean a fine of at least $200.

The real chaos doesn't start for a few more days. But after a whole summer without the slowdown, it's worth getting back into the habit now.

Let's give ourselves a little extra time in the mornings and keep an eye out for our kids as they head back to class.

Last weekend, new U.S. tariffs kicked in on Canadian goods, putting even more pressure on businesses here at home.

For companies already dealing with higher costs and less certainty about where they can sell, it gets harder to keep people employed and plan for what's next.

Now, the province is stepping in with some help.

Manitoba has announced more than $100 million in support for businesses, workers, and farmers affected by the tariffs.

That means some breathing room for the businesses trying to stay open, the workers counting on their next paycheque, and the farmers planning another season.

And there’s something we can do on our end too.

Shop local when you can, choose Manitoba-made when you have the option, and keep supporting the people who make their living right here.
