Winnipeg Police Issue Warning After Pins Found in Halloween Candy
If your kids still have Halloween candy left, Winnipeg police are asking parents to give it a careful look before anyone reaches for the next piece.
Police have received two separate reports of straight pins found inside chocolate bars. One was in a mini Twix, and the other was in a Kit Kat.
The reports came from families on Sinclair Street in Garden City and High Ridge Road in Royalwood.
Wherever your kids went trick-or-treating, here are two simple steps:
Open or break each piece in half before eating, even if your kids are older.
If you find something sharp, call the police non-emergency line at 204-986-6222 so they can keep everyone updated.
Taking a few extra minutes to check every piece means the rest of the stash can still be enjoyed safely, and Health Canada has a few more tips on what to look for.
PS: Send this to your parent group chats so every family knows to check.

Ever Come Home Needing A Vacation From Your Vacation?
You booked the big trip. Four countries in eight days. And it was beautiful, at least the parts you got to see.
But most of it happened through a bus window. Bags out by 7 a.m., two hours in a city, then on to the next. You got the photos. You just never got to stay.
So you came home tired, with a camera roll full of places you barely remember.
There’s another way to travel.
Insight Vacations, booked through Bonaventure Travel, takes you through one country, slowly. Fewer stops, more time, and room to enjoy the food, traditions, and stories behind each place.
So, where could you go?
Glories of Greece (7 days). From the Acropolis to the cliff-top monasteries of Meteora and Olympia, where the Olympic Games began. Leaves February 2027.
Sicily In Depth (9 days). Ancient Greek temples, Baroque hill towns, and views across the sea to Mount Etna. Leaves April 2027.
Costa Rica Rainforest (9 days, small group). Misty cloud forests, the Pacific coast, and never more than 24 guests. Leaves April 2027.
Right now, select tours are up to 15% off, with guaranteed departure, so your trip is confirmed to run.
But these savings are only here for a limited time, and the soonest dates fill first.
So click below to see the full itineraries, dates and prices. And if there’s another trip you’ve been dreaming about, Bonaventure can help you plan that one too.

Your Guide to Donating Winter Clothes in Winnipeg
When the temperature drops, most of us just grab a warmer coat from the closet. Not everyone in Winnipeg has one to grab.
If you’ve got coats, boots or jackets sitting unused, especially ones the kids have outgrown, they could keep someone else warm this winter. So we put together a guide to where you can drop them off.
A few places to start:
Koats for Kids has 19 drop-off sites and shares more than 6,000 coats with local families every year.
Union Gospel Mission collects clothing at 10 boxes around the city, and new underwear for men and women is a big need.
All three of the City of Winnipeg’s 4R Depots have clothing donation bins for city residents.
The rest of the guide includes spots that take adult winter gear, blankets and sleeping bags, so the whole family can pitch in.
That coat your kids outgrew could be exactly what someone else needs this winter. Find the spot closest to you and give it a new home.
PS: Know someone with a closet full of outgrown coats? Send this their way.

Winnipeg Jets Reveal Their New Jersey Design
The Jets are bringing Manitoba’s night sky to the ice this season.
On Monday, the team revealed its new Hometown Remix jersey. All 32 NHL teams got one, each designed around its own city, and the Jets went with the Northern Lights.
Here’s what’s on it:
The sleeves fade from blue to light green, like the lights moving across the sky.
The bottom of the jersey shows a full Northern Lights scene.
The names and numbers look like they’re glowing.
The Jets will wear it for the first time on Tuesday, Nov. 17 against Ottawa, and for seven more games after that. If you want your own, it’s available now online and at Jets Gear stores.
Every time the team takes the ice in it, they’ll be carrying a little piece of Manitoba’s sky with them.
A Little Extra Help for Winnipeg Families This Christmas
Christmas is still weeks away, but for some Winnipeg families, the worry has already started: how to fill the fridge and still find something to put under the tree.
For more than 100 years, the Christmas Cheer Board has been there to help, and this week, its hamper applications opened.
Each hamper is filled with groceries, plus gifts for kids 14 and under, and the Cheer Board puts together more than 21,000 of them every year for families of all cultures and beliefs.
So if you or someone you know could use a little extra this Christmas, applications are open now.
Click here: To see who can apply and how!
And if you’d like to be on the giving side this year, there are plenty of ways to help:
Volunteer to deliver hampers to people who can’t pick them up.
Pack hampers with a group of friends, family or coworkers.
Sponsor a hamper so another family gets one this year.
Donate food or money to help fill them.
It makes for a pretty special holiday tradition, and with more than 400 volunteers already pitching in, you’d be in good company. Every hamper means one more family with something to look forward to on Christmas morning.

The Holiday Gift Nobody Else Can Give…
The list is on your phone. Mom, your sister, your best friend, your partner.
Half of it already says “gift card?” with a question mark.
Every year it goes the same way. A rushed trip to the mall, something nice enough, wrapped on the 23rd. They say thank you, and by spring nobody remembers what it was.
This year, make their gift yourself.
Here’s who you could make it for:
Each other, as a date night where you both leave with something to wear
Your best friend, matching pieces made side by side
Mom or Grandma, a ring or pendant she’ll wear every day
Him, cuff links or a key chain he’ll actually use
Then pick the workshop that fits:
Silversmithing (3 hours). Choose the stone and shape your piece from scratch in real sterling silver.
Charms (1 hour 15 minutes). Pick a chain, dig through hundreds of charms, and build a bracelet or necklace full of little things only the two of you would get.
Never made jewellery before? That’s okay.
A silversmith guides you through every step, and Gem Studio has a 5-star Google rating from 100+ reviews.
You walk out with your gift the same night. So when they open it and ask where you found it, you can tell them you made it yourself.
December spots go quickly, so book yours before the holiday rush.
