Fall is officially giving us plenty of reasons to get out of the house, but if you’re driving through South Winnipeg today, you might want to leave a few minutes earlier.

If Abinojii Mikanah or River Road is part of your regular drive, you’ll probably want to give yourself a little more time before heading out this morning.

Starting today, crews are resurfacing the intersection of Abinojii Mikanah and River Road. The work runs until October 9 at 6 PM, and a few changes are worth knowing before you get behind the wheel.

And those changes are not limited to cars.

The south-side sidewalk on Abinojii Mikanah and the east-side sidewalk on River Road are closed, and Winnipeg Transit is being rerouted during the work.

Nobody loves a detour, so share this with anyone you know who drives through south Winnipeg. And give yourself a few extra minutes before heading out until the work wraps up in October.

Finding a Halloween thing the whole family can do together is harder than it should be.

Too scary for the little ones, too babyish for the older ones, or just not much to actually do once you're there. And there's only a couple of weekends left before the season turns, the sun sets before dinner, and "let's go do something" turns into "let's just stay in."

If you’ve been missing hockey season all summer, you won’t have to wait much longer until you watch them here at home.

The Jets are back at Canada Life Centre tonight for their first home game of the pre-season, taking on the Colorado Avalanche at 7 PM. And there’s another home game coming tomorrow.

You can also catch every game on 680 CJOB and Power 97.

Another heads-up before the regular season starts. With Manitoba staying on daylight saving time permanently, the NHL has changed the start times for 12 Jets home games between Nov. 1 and March 13.

So if you’ve already got Jets nights marked on the family calendar, give those times another look before game day.

Hepatitis A can be hard to spot in kids because they don’t always show symptoms. That’s become especially important in Manitoba, where hundreds of cases have been reported since 2024.

Now, a case has been confirmed at Shaughnessy Park School in Winnipeg, which serves kids from nursery through Grade 8. Parents, guardians, and staff are being asked to watch for symptoms until November 3rd.

The Winnipeg School Division says it’s following public health guidance. An immunization clinic will also be held at Shaughnessy Park School to help prevent further spread.

Hepatitis A can spread through contaminated food or water and improper handwashing. Knowing the signs, washing your hands well and following public health advice can all help protect families and keep it from spreading further in the community.
